What it's like working in a think tank

I just listened to two co-workers have a lengthy conversation about the merits and career of a famed British actress. They both spoke quite authoritatively (and admiringly) about said actress, going into details about a few particular films. They went on and on. At no time did either of them realize that one of them was talking about the career of Judi Dench and one of them was talking about the career of Helen Mirren. I did not enlighten them.

You know, those older British actresses--they all look alike.

That is terrific! How did you restrain yourself?

That's fantastic! Just marvelous that the same actress can win an Academy Award for playing Elizabeth I & II.

Hee... I wouldn't have been able to resist telling them.

-r-, I was having too much fun. Plus I really thought one of them would figure it out eventually. But no.

noelle, Helen Mirren IS marvelous, isn't she? Or do I mean Judi Dench? Hee.

npw, Part of me wanted to, believe me. Particularly since one of the co-workers is one of "those" people who obviously inspired the "Those of you who THINK you're always right are very annoying to those of us who ARE" t-shirt I saw once. ;)

That is AWESOME. Do you remember any choice quotes from their conversation?

OK, I would like to mock them along with you, but I left the movie Snow Cake telling my friends how I can't look at Carrie-Anne Moss without thinking of her as a pre-op transexual, thanks to her role on Ally McBeal. Except it wasn't Carrie-Anne Moss who played the pre-op transexual on Ally McBeal. It was Lisa Edelstein. Whoops. I still say they look damn similar.

metalia, no particular pithy quotes--just that they were so obviously oblivious. Hee.

stef, those two do look a bit alike, now that you mention it. Unlike Judi and Helen, who have in common only being British and fabulous. ;)
