Someone needs to take away my remote

'Cause, god help me, I have now watched both episodes of "Date My Ex: Jo and Slade." Why, I ask myself, why? The premise is ridiculous, the participants, for the most part, are by turns vapid, vain and detestable...and yet I watch. Damn my cheesy reality television addiction! (You will be pleased to know that I HAVE resisted the efforts of both Denise Richards and the lesser Lohans. I have some standards.)

Not much going on around here. No dating news to report. I think Mr. Ordinary may have given up on me. (And vice-versa.) We talked on Saturday, he said he'd probably call me on Sunday, but he didn't, and hasn't called since. Maybe he's waiting for me to call, for a change. But I think the fact that we talked on the phone a number of times without either of us suggesting meeting face-to-face is probably pretty telling.

Who needs to date, anyway, when there are feral cats to be concerned with?! I'm attempting to tame a skinny, skinny, pregnant (or maybe slightly postpartum) tortie that's been hanging around the work neighborhood for a while. I've made great progress this week, since I broke out the canned food. She has rubbed against my legs, and has (however grudgingly) let me pet her a bit. I predict we will be great friends before too long. Little does she know that I have plans for her girly parts! And her kittens, god willing, wherever they are.

I've got a one-night theatrical performance to do this weekend. So, see...I'm getting back to my roots. Theatre and homeless animals--who needs a man? (Unless he's offering to mow my lawn, of course, I'm no fool.)

Speaking of men, though...I am currently reading "Why Men Love Bitches," which was given to me by a friend. Have any of you read this? I'm sure I'm going to have quite a bit to say about it, but I thought I'd finish it first. Maybe it has a surprise ending. Heh.

I have read "Why Men Love Bitches" but it's been about 5 years so I don't remember details. I do remember thinking that I wasn't so crazy about the book though. If I remember correctly, it seemed to basically instruct women to play a whole bunch of games in relationships and I HATE game playing whether it's the man or the woman playing them.

I am a little sad about Mr. Ordinary...Only because dating always makes such interesting blog fodder. :)

Really, though, it would be best if you could meet someone with whom you really enjoy spending time. Bad for the blog, but good for the heart. :)

You're watching "Date My Ex" because Bravo went and put it on right after "Project Runway"! I watched the first three minutes of it, and then stopped myself and said, "WHY am I watching this??" I promptly turned it off and haven't looked back. You can do it, Liz! (Unless of course it's actually entertaining, in which case keep right on watching. Don't let me stop you!)

I don't know much about "date my ex," but sometimes I think that if I can get my ex dating someone then maybe it will mean that I'll find love.

If I still had Bravo in my cable line up I'd be watching "Date My Ex" too. Man, it looks horrible! I truly hated
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" but I could never pull myself away from it.

A friend gave you "Why Men Love Bitches"?! Is that like my mother giving me "Why There Are No Good Men Left" while I was involved in a serious relationship?

After watching Baby Borrowers and Celebrity Circus MORE THAN ONE WEEK IN A ROW I decided that I hate TV right now. I am ashamed.

Sorry about Mr. O.

ss, that's pretty much my take on it, as well. Grr.

3car, I don't know...I don't think he was even providing any particularly good blog fodder! Hee.

stef, "entertaining" isn't exactly the right word. "Exercising" might apply...if vigorously rolling your eyes every couple of minutes counts as "exercise." ;)

noelle, I think Jo and Slade are much more concerned with staying entangled with each other somehow...and, of course, staying on TV at all costs.

pants, theoretically she loaned it to me because she thinks I need to be MORE of a bitch. And that's what the book "teaches" you to do.

paisley, oh my! I don't feel so bad about myself now. Hee.

ok, so the pride in the arena ticket purchase was enough for me to wonder about that guy. (i will gleefully be gone for the arena opening, and since it's right next to my house that is a blessing.) i had a guy like that once, and he ended up being dubbed "white bread" by us. snooze-o-rama.

p.s. bravo owns my soul. i have managed to steer clear of the a&e festival of crap so far, though i was a bit tempted by the two coreys.

It's a good thing I don't have cable. I don't even know what "Date My Ex" is, and I want to watch it.
