My blog friends kick ass

First, a note of thanks to all of you who offered to kick New Guy's butt for me. It's so nice to know the blogosphere has your back.

I don't think it will be necessary, though, ultimately. We finally stopped dancing around the topic last night, and discussed what's going to happen at the end of the school year. The one certain thing? He's leaving the current job. Which almost certainly means he's leaving town, as well. I can't blame him--he's been miserable in that job, and that's not good for anyone. He's hoping to find something even closer to his kids, and that's understandable, too, of course.

What am I going to do? Enjoy his company as much as possible between now and June. Then he will leave, and I will fall into a deep, deep depression, which I will claw my way out of by doing non-stop theatre and perhaps adopting a second dog. (I seem to be better at finding animals than men, to be sure.)

How's that for a plan?

Hmph. Sorry he's likely leaving town. If it's not meant to be...well, then it won't be.

Can I say some cliche stuff about one door closing and another opening? Oh, not yet? Enjoy your time until June. :)

That's a very mature response. I think if my guy was inevitably leaving down in a few months, I would just pout till then. Yay for you being strong!

That is sucky news indeed... but have your fun while it lasts! Your blog posse will be there to cheer you up during the dark days of June.

Aw, it sucks that he's leaving, but it's probably best if he wasn't happy in that job. The frustration and dissatisfaction can put a damper on other, otherwise happy areas.

Is Cute Church Guy still single?

Can I still kick his ass for you?

I think that's not a plan! At least, not the depression part, anyway. Actually, I don't know what the best thing is to do when you're faced with an inevitable break up. But I'll be on the ass-kicking bandwagon if you'll have me.

I dated a guy a few years ago and I was crazy about him. After we had dated for about 5 months, he told me he was moving from Atlanta to Ohio for his job in January. I flew to Ohio one weekend to visit him. Everything was wonderful. In February of that year, he told me he missed his kids (who lived here in Atlanta) and that he was moving back and was glad he would be able to see me again too. He moved back and two weeks later he broke up with me saying "the timing wasn't right". Guys are such a pain in the bum sometimes.

I doubt that story makes you feel any better, but I hope this part will: because that 'wonderful' guy broke up with me, I was free to meet Hot Brazilian. The other guy still calls me from time to time and he says he's bummed he missed his chance with me.

Perhaps you just need to be available to meet someone more wonderful for you down the road a little bit. That's what I think anyway.

Hugs!

Blog friends DO kick ass. I mean, look at Sparkling Cipher! I almost FORGOT about Cute Church Guy! One door closing and another opening indeed... ;-)

OK, OK, that's probably not the right response. Whatever happens, you will be fine, my friend. Because you are strong and fabulous and people (and pets) like you! Chin up, Liz.

Skip the depression part, please!
Enjoy your time left and look forward to a new pet! ;-)

You know you'll always have us, here.

Pssh. I told you I'd kick New Guy's ass and I meant it. That said, if/when he does leave, at least you won't have to come up with another nickname for the next guy you date. :)

3car, yeah, get back to me with the cliches in a couple of months, okay? :)

allie, well, if by mature you mean "cried myself to sleep that night and woke up crying the next morning," well then...yeah, I'm mature. ;)

lsass, I'm sure I will need that posse come June!

spark, he is. And as far as I know, still as uninterested in me as ever. ;)

gorillabuns, maybe that can be arranged.

noelle, I hope the depression doesn't last, but I can't imagine it won't make at least a fleeting appearance. I'll let you know when the bandwagon starts gearing up!

ss, well, there's a thought--maybe my very own Hot Brazilian is waiting in the wings. (Of course, I was hoping that New Guy would BE my Hot Brazilian. Sigh.)

stef, oh, I'll know I'll be fine, eventually. I'm just a little pissed at the universe right now. I meet a guy I really like for the first time in YEARS--of COURSE he's moving away. Gah.

stinky, I'll get by with a little help from my "blends." :)

npw, maybe he could use a few kicks at that. Yeah, if and when the next guy comes along, he can just be Newer Guy. Hee.

If only they had rescue groups for people like they do for dogs. They could take them in, neuter them & microchip them ... it'd be great! ;)

I have nothing wise to say, but I still want to comment to somehow be supportive. Maybe you will meet a hot thespian doing your play?

I hear hot thespians are good therapy. :-)

Ditto to what everyone else has said... very mature response, indeed!

I like your approach.
Sweet Jeebus, get what you can when you can, I say.
Dude's missing out by moving, that's all I'm sayin'...
