Only in Oklahoma

Friday we had thundertorms. Saturday we had a blizzard, complete with thunder and lightning. (Well, Tulsa only got 6-8 inches of snow, with limited visibility, but the western part of the state had it much worse.) Sunday afternoon I was sitting outside on a patio, drinking wine and basking in the sun. (58 degrees.) Today should be in the 60s, and there's barely a trace left of all that snow. Just the remnants of a few pitifully melted snowpeople.

I'm used to wacky weather, but this? This is NUTS.

Tonight I am meeting Hot Mediterranean for coffee. A date arranged completely via email. He did try to call once, but I missed the call, and couldn't bring myself to return it. I am hoping that, in person, with the benefit of facial expressions and body language, that we will be able to at least communicate a little bit. I mean...I dated a man with severe aphasia for several months, surely I can at least get through coffee with this guy. Right? RIGHT?

Maybe there will at least be some good blog fodder. I'm doing it all for you, folks. You're welcome.

I love that you are calling him Hot Mediterranean. Maybe you should have had him cook for you for your first date? Mmm, grape leaves.

I hope Sauntering Soul doesn't have some type of trademark on using the term "hot" along with a person's ethnicity to anonymously describe a suitor. You DID check with her first, right?

Have fun. I'll be checking for a post first thing tomorrow.

Incidentally, I can't find an email address anywhere on your profile, so I can't harass you with questions when the mood suits me. Well played.

3C's, she did not check with me but I can assure you I don't mind at all! If he was Brazilian, we might have to come up with some sort of way to differentiate between the two of them though. :-)

I've never been to Lebanon, but I've been to Cyprus and there were lots of Hot Mediterraneans there. Unfortunately, I was with my Non-Hot American ex-husband and could not take advantage of the situation.

I cannot wait to hear how this goes! Liz, if you don't post tomorrow we're all going to hunt you down.

Ooh! I am all for the cooking! And appreciate that you're doing this for us.

And I am sorry, the weather you reported has also happened in Minnesota. It is not exclusive to Oklahoma. Which makes me wonder why I have not yet moved somewhere else. And I am jealous of your 58 degrees. We only got up to 45 this weekend.

YOu're so good to us, the things you put yourself thru just for us... THANK YOU!!

I was going to tell you those wacky extremes are equally likely in Minnesota, but I see someone beat me to it.

And most of my Internet dates are arranged only via email without ever talking on the phone first, so I wouldn't worry about that. But then, I don't think I've ever gone out with a guy who only marginally spoke English. Can't wait for this update, Liz.

It's nice of you to date for my entertainment. I don't even date for my entertainment. I just do it for the money.

The sacrifices you make for us! I appreciate it, but if it turns out you have no chemistry with the sexy foreign man, just send him up here. I mean, politely break it off.

npw, update coming soon--but he did offer to make me tabouli. ;)

3car, I assumed she would think imitation the sincerest form of flattery. Post coming!

ss, I'm so sorry you were unable to make good use of the Hot Mediterraneans, but at least you have your very own Brazilian now. ;)

green, oh...other states may THINK they have erratic weather, but truly, Oklahoma rules in that department. Did you have thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, AND 80-degree shorts/sandals weather in the SAME week as your unexpected blizzard? Did you? ;)

stinky, I live to serve.

stef, I don't think I've ever arranged a meeting without at least a brief phone call. I have to make sure their voices don't effect me like fingernails on a chalkboard. ;)

flurrious, I could be making money at this? I've been going at it all wrong, apparently.

gbuns, YOU know what I'm talkin' about. ;)

spark, hee!
